The Post 370 Era.

The historic Constitutional Order that rendered Article 370 and 35A null and void was passed on 5th of August. For seven decades, this 'special status', formed the socio-political identity of the people of Kashmir. But it was never a 'special status', it was only a temporary act meant to lend time to Kashmiris and India to decide the fate of the region and all its people. In theory, removing these acts will allow complete integration of the territories of Jammu and Kashmir into the Indian Union, something which was long overdue. However, those out on the streets beating drums and firing crackers may be celebrating too soon because the real challenges begin now.  NOW, WHAT? When examined thoroughly in the present context, removing the law and creating two UT's from the region are only symbolic measures and do not assure any peace or development. Also, the people of Jammu and Kashmir who are at the center of this issue were blatantly ignored. The move needs to ...

Mast Ki Pathshala- Let's Make A Difference

"The greatest legacy one can pass on to one's children and grandchildren is not money or other material things accumulated in one's life, but rather a legacy of character and faith."    — Billy Graham, evangelist  Every morning as the rays shine over the temple of education at Sector 31 NOIDA, young students raise their hands and offer a 'Namaskaram' to the Sun, then they join their hands and pray for better opportunities and a happier tomorrow. Sandhya Randev , Shekhar Randev and Padma Sharma wake up every morning to answer these kids' prayers and give them hope for a brighter future. They have managed to keep these kids in school, spending every ounce of their energy on learning and playing rather than being out on the streets while their parents earn a living. Over the summer, these kids were given classes on school subjects such as Mathematics, Sanskrit, Science and English as well as other classes on Spoken English, Disciplinary Training, Self Defe...

#Operation136 - A Long Awaited Expose

Image
For all those who haven't already figured out from the title what this is about, let me acquaint you with Cobrapost, which is a non-profit news website and TV production that is acclaimed for its investigative journalism. On March 26, Cobrapost released Part 1 of its sting operation called Operation 136 in which it revealed the current rate cards of two dozen of the country's biggest media houses. In the operation, Pushp Sharma a senior journalist went undercover as a man claiming to be a Hindu nationalist and asked the influential conglomerates to run his campaign to promote Hindutva polarization and meddle with the electoral process. The disguised investigator offered anything between 6 and 50 Crores to run a campaign till the 2019 Elections. And although none of us are really surprised that the outcome of such proposals was acceptance with extreme optimism, the presstitutes' recorded responses could leave the everyday passive news recipient astonished.  ...

Bollywood Is Responsible For Indian Rape Culture.

Image
On an average, how many rape cases do you read in the newspaper every day? The answers are one too many. The ones reported are only a small fraction of the ones that occur. And what do you think is responsible for this? Maybe it's not Bollywood alone, but it is the single most responsible for this problem. The reason Bollywood amounts to such a big culprit is that it has been allowed to show obscenity and objectify women. And it has gone on for far too long. The institution responsible for restricting the content being played in Cinemas (CBFC) has done nothing to make it stop. The list of movies that show that men can get their way with women just by being persistent is one of the longest in the world. And these movies are considered entertain. This entertainment makes the minds of little boys rotten and it won't take you too long to guess that these are the boys that grow up to eve-tease women. It is not their fault because this behavior was introduced to them by films and j...

Film Industry Vs. Pahlaj Nihalani.

The role of the CBFC is to give film certification without which films cannot be released. That is all. I fail to understand why there is so much conflict between directors and the CBFC chief! If only Mr. Nihalani would do his job instead of forcing his opinion down the throat of the masses, we would all be happier. Their job is to view the content and give it a certification. Instead, they haggle with directors to make certain cuts to receive the desired certification. We live in a free country yet we are slaves of the mindset that is being forced on us by government officials like Nihalani. Films like Phullu are trying to bring a change in their own little way but unfortunately have to face the demons at CBFC. Here's a thing, Menstruation is not an adult subject and yes, it IS UNIVERSAL.  Films promoting women empowerment or women speaking out are put under pressure because they go against their overall political agenda.  Where was Mr. Nihalani when women were being obje...

Pain

Pain- a word more powerful than a thousand of those of the the Great Orator. Is what compels me to pick up a pen and write; For he who writes pain, Writes nothing but the truth. No bruise, no injury , no wound comes close to the pain that wrecks my heart. When Worth's not known and trial never ends. Emotions reek havoc in my Bossom then. Then, salvation I find in success; And success seems to be on an island afar. I have no boat; Nothing but a pen. So now,  I write myself a bridge till the world's end.

The Question That No One Asked

The streets are currently abuzz with our Honourable Prime Minister's scheme of introducing new 500 rupee notes and bringing in 2000 rupee notes instead of 1000 rupee notes.  From the night it was announced many have lost sleep because of anxiety. This scheme was launched to eradicate black money from the market. And after hearing Mr. Modi  and Mr. Jaitley speak about it at length we understand that they want all cash to be accounted for. In order for that to happen all citizens need to have bank accounts and should prefer using alternate means in order to reduce cash in the market.  Although this scheme has  objective, the government has not been able to execute it properly.  This morning Mr. Arun Jaitley addressed the nation on this account and later also took questions.  At the conference, when questioned about the execution and how it was not at all as smooth as they would  wan it to be, he denied the accusation completely. So, according to the go...
